I heard about this little robot from Danny Choo’s post about the Hoi Hoi-san figure. She is the star of a manga and a ten minute OVA, as well as a PS2 game. Hoi Hoi-san is basically a bug killing robot (with squeaky shoes) invented in the future when pesticides have stopped working.
Here’s a picture of her, which I think is one of the manga covers.
One of my favorite robots is the tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell. Even though they’re fairly large combat vehicles, they still talk in cute voices and act curious and childish.
Ghost in the Shell had short episodes featuring the tachikoma at the end of their regular episodes:
I found this one over on Flickr, and I think they’re really adorable! It’s designed by Charuca, which has a lot of other cute character designs (mostly not robots).
These little guys are a paper craft project, sold by Gizmine. Even though they’re Japanese, they were red, white and blue so I figured they’d work for 4th of July.
